Remember
Lecce, Italy
This project is located at the seaside of Lecce, Italy. Lecce is a small ancient town with abundant historic buildings and heritage and the seaside area of Lecce has the opposite treasure - nature. However, the seaside area of Lecce has been forgotten from the town centre. This phenomenon leads to a problem that the seaside only is remembered in the summertime and in winter, the place will be totally empty and forgotten.
The project aims to minimize this problem by using 3 strategies: reconnection, renaturation and regeneration.
Generally speaking, the main measures to the project will be:
1. Providing alternatives to cars with the introduction of environmentally friendly means of transports (ART, bike-sharing and footpaths);
2. Improving and protecting dunes and wetland’s functions and resilience;
3. Marine as a destination to discover and enjoy Lecce’s territory (which is not just the historical city or the sea), providing spaces for events and activities, strengthening the relationship with the natural heritage.
